From the lingo to the regulations to the various laws surrounding it, the ignition interlock industry can be a beast to master. I mean there are common foods and drinks containing trace amounts of ethanol that can cause an interlock participant to blow a false fail. And the regulations and laws change from state to state. For attorneys who must advise clients on the proper steps to take in the wake of a DUI charge, there’s just a lot to keep up with.
That’s why we make it a point to attend as many North Carolina Continuing Legal Education (CLE) events as possible. And we’ll hook you up. Just find our branded banner-up and take everything we have! Really. Do it. We have brochures on interlock basics and Monitech’s Service Center locations and an eight-step card that breaks down the process to regaining the freedom to drive after a DUI conviction.
But our most valuable resources for attorneys are our “Education Kits” and “Attorney Cheat Sheets.” The education kit is a six-page guide designed to bring attorneys and alcohol assessment counselors up to speed on the North Carolina ignition interlock program as determined by the NCDMV. And you’re really going to want to grab a copy of the attorney cheat sheet. It saves you time and effort by breaking down the legal ignition interlock requirements depending on an individual’s number of previous convictions as well as their ABV level at the time they were hit with the DUI charge.
All of this and more (pens and car phone chargers) can be yours on June 14 at Sunset Beach for the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ) Convention Weekend. We look forward to seeing you there!
In the meantime, you can find a bunch of great interlock resources on our attorney portal.
