This may be a result of the reduced setpoint level, which lowers the level at which a device detects an unacceptable blood alcohol content (BAC) level. Due to this, the devices are much more sensitive to anything containing alcohol. Interlock devices look for alcohol and do not distinguish between an alcoholic beverage and other products containing various amounts of alcohol. Please note that Monitech cannot do anything to change the reading received on your device. If you have received a message telling you that you have a certain number of days until service is required, please contact us a (800) 521-4246 to schedule an appointment or receive an override code. Fees will apply.

Weather conditions can cause invalid samples on your device. If it is cold outside, hold the mouthpiece in your hand and blow into it to warm it up. Attempt the test again.

Please consult the NCDMV if you have questions about your readings as Monitech cannot advise customers on readings.

Yes. Even under financial difficulty, you should always bring your vehicle in for your regularly scheduled monitoring appointment. Although an additional fee will apply, you may contact the Monitech Financial Department at (800) 521-4246 to make arrangements. Also, someone other than the interlock participant may make a payment over the phone by calling (800) 521-4246. Please remember that failure to appear for an interlock appointment may cause loss of the driving privilege.

Disconnect the samplehead quickly and then reconnect it (the alarm will sound so try to reconnect the samplehead as quickly as possible). This may result in a recall code (5079) for improperly disconnecting the sample head. Please contact us at 800-521-4246 to receive an override code at no cost. Did this resolve your issue?

It is important for you and/or the designated mechanic to call the toll free number at (800) 521-4246 prior to any invasive mechanical work on your vehicle. Minor work such as oil/filter changes or parts replacements do not necessarily require consultation as long as the vehicle can be started by the interlock participant or other designated user. You must also be aware of any random tests that are requested while the vehicle is running. When in doubt, please call the toll free number. There is no charge to you or the designated garage representative for consulting a Monitech representative.

The battery can be disconnected for normal replacement or servicing of the vehicle by a mechanic. Follow all appropriate procedures. Special precautions should also be taken in order not to arc the cables at the battery terminals. Since the ignition interlock monitors certain vehicle aspects even when off, the battery should not be disconnected more than necessary. Please consult with a Monitech service operator or your local technician prior to extended disconnect or for any questions regarding battery change or charging.
